 Jour 3 : Développer des compétences et renforcer la confiance

La session d’aujourd’hui à notre atelier de théâtre inclusif était dédiée au perfectionnement des compétences essentielles et à l’expression de la créativité. Les participants ont commencé par revoir les formules de politesse et les techniques d’écoute active, soulignant l’importance d’une communication efficace, tant sur scène qu’en dehors. Ces compétences de base ne sont pas seulement précieuses pour le théâtre, mais aussi pour établir des relations plus solides dans la vie quotidienne.

Le groupe a ensuite enchaîné avec des échauffements vocaux, en mettant l’accent sur la projection, la clarté et le ton. Ces exercices ont permis de les préparer aux répétitions en vue du spectacle de clôture de l’atelier, tant attendu mis en scène par Zalfa Chelhot, notre conseillère en coaching. À chaque passage, leur confiance et leur esprit d’équipe se renforçaient, les rapprochant d’une performance aboutie.

Pour ajouter une touche spéciale à la journée, nous avons eu le plaisir d’accueillir la star Fouad Yammine, connu pour ses rôles au cinéma, dans des publicités et au théâtre libanais. Fouad a animé une session d’improvisation captivante, défiant les participants à penser rapidement, à embrasser la spontanéité et à laisser libre cours à leur créativité sur scène. Rires et applaudissements ont rempli la salle alors que les participants exploraient de nouveaux personnages et scénarios, brisant des barrières et révélant des talents insoupçonnés.

La combinaison de compétences pratiques, d’exploration créative et de conseils d’experts a rendu l’atelier d’aujourd’hui inoubliable. Avec chaque session, les participants construisent une boîte à outils puissante pour s’exprimer et se connecter, des compétences qui brilleront lors de leur prochain spectacle et au-delà !

Day 3: Building Skills and Boosting Confidence

Today’s session at our Inclusive Theater Workshop was dedicated to refining essential skills and embracing creativity. Participants began by reviewing politeness formulas and active listening techniques, emphasizing the importance of effective communication both on and off the stage. These foundational skills are not only valuable for theater but also for building stronger connections in everyday life.

The group then moved on to vocal warmups, focusing on projection, clarity, and tone. These exercises helped prepare them for the much-anticipated closing workshop performance, directed by our coaching advisor, Zalfa Chelhot. With each rehearsal, their confidence and teamwork grew stronger, bringing them closer to a polished performance.

To add a special highlight to the day, we were thrilled to welcome the star Fouad Yammine, renowned for his roles in Lebanese cinema, commercials, and theater. Fouad led an engaging improv session, challenging participants to think quickly, embrace spontaneity, and unleash their creativity on stage. Laughter and applause filled the room as participants explored new characters and scenarios, breaking down barriers and uncovering hidden talents.

The combination of practical skills, creative exploration, and expert guidance made today’s workshop unforgettable. With each session, participants are building a powerful toolkit for expression and connection—skills that will shine during their upcoming performance and beyond!

Five Days to shine : Jour 2

Jour 2 : Une Plongée Créative et Inspirante

Ce matin, en arrivant à l’atelier de théâtre inclusif, nous ne savions pas encore encore que la journée allait être aussi riche en découvertes et en émotions. Tout le monde était là, prêt à relever de nouveaux défis. Sous la guidance bienveillante de notre conseillère et metteur en scène Zalfa Chelhot et de notre invité spécial Cyril Jabre, un artiste plein de générosité et d'énergie, nous avons embarqué pour une aventure théâtrale aussi surprenante qu’inspirante.

La première étape de notre voyage du jour ? Une exploration inattendue des formules de politesse. Ces simples mots du quotidien, souvent prononcés machinalement, ont pris une toute nouvelle dimension sur scène. Dire "bonjour" ou "merci" avec intention, créer une connexion sincère avec son partenaire de jeu – tout cela a révélé une profondeur insoupçonnée. Ce fut un beau rappel que chaque mot compte et peut ouvrir la porte à une communication authentique.

Puis, place à l’articulation ! Des exercices drôles et dynamiques nous ont poussés à nous libérer de nos hésitations. Chacun s’est essayé à projeter sa voix, à parler avec assurance. Les rires ont fusé lorsqu’un mot mal prononcé prenait une tournure comique, mais toujours dans une atmosphère bienveillante et constructive.

Un moment fort a marqué la matinée : apprendre à donner et recevoir des critiques de manière constructive. Ce n’est jamais évident, même dans la vie de tous les jours. Mais sur scène, c’est vital. Voir les participants s’encourager, s’écouter avec attention et progresser ensemble était profondément émouvant. L’écoute active s’est imposée comme une clé essentielle, non seulement pour notre théâtre, mais pour nos vies aussi.

Et puis, comme souvent dans ces journées où tout semble se synchroniser parfaitement, nous avons entamé une séquence musicale sur la chanson Si j’étais président de Gérard Lenormand. Un clin d’œil au contexte politique du jour où des élections présidentielles se tenaient dans le pays. La symbolique était puissante, et chacun s’est investi avec passion pour apprendre les mouvements, travailler le positionnement et capter l’attention de l’imaginaire spectateur.

Pour couronner cette journée déjà incroyable, une surprise attendait les participants : une séance photo avec un cameraman -photographe professionnel. Voir leurs visages s’illuminer, sentir leur fierté palpable lorsqu’ils prenaient la pose, c’était magique. Le théâtre est une affaire d’expression, mais ce jour-là, il s’est aussi transformé en une ode à l’estime de soi et à la célébration de l’instant présent.

Day 2: A Creative and Inspiring Journey

This morning, as we arrived at the inclusive theater workshop, none of us imagined just how rich in discoveries and emotions the day would be. Everyone was there, ready to take on new challenges. Under the thoughtful guidance of our mentor and director Zalfa Chelhot, and with our special guest Cyril Jabre—an artist brimming with generosity and energy—we embarked on a theatrical adventure both surprising and inspiring.

The first step of the day's journey? An unexpected exploration of politeness formulas. These simple everyday words, often spoken without much thought, took on a whole new dimension on stage. Saying "hello" or "thank you" with intention and creating a sincere connection with a scene partner revealed depths we hadn’t anticipated. It was a beautiful reminder that every word matters and can open the door to authentic communication.

Next up was articulation! Lively, fun exercises pushed us to break free from our hesitations. Each of us practiced projecting our voice and speaking with confidence. Laughter echoed through the room when a mispronounced word took on a comical twist, but the atmosphere remained warm and supportive.

One of the morning’s highlights was learning how to give and receive constructive feedback. It’s never easy, even in everyday life, but on stage, it’s essential. Watching participants encourage one another, listen attentively, and grow together was deeply moving. Active listening became a key tool, not only for theater but for life itself.

Then, as if the day had been perfectly orchestrated, we launched into a musical sequence with Gérard Lenorman’s Si j’étais président. The timing couldn’t have been more fitting, as the country was holding presidential elections that same day. The symbolism was powerful, and everyone threw themselves into learning the movements, refining their stage positioning, and mastering techniques to captivate their imaginary audience.

To top off this already incredible day, a surprise awaited the participants: a photoshoot with a professional cameraman-photographer. Seeing their faces light up, sensing their pride as they posed, was pure magic. Theater is all about expression, but that day, it became a celebration of self-esteem and living fully in the present moment.

FIVE DAYS TO SHINE DAY 1

Jour 1 : Premiers pas sur scène et rencontres inattendues

Aujourd’hui, j’ai vu une aventure prendre vie sous mes yeux : notre atelier théâtre inclusif pour jeunes en situation de handicap cognitif. Pour certains, c’était la toute première fois qu’ils franchissaient les portes d’un théâtre. Un lieu encore inconnu, mais qui allait vite devenir leur espace de liberté et d’expression.

Tout a commencé tranquillement. Pas de précipitation. Juste le temps de découvrir l’espace, de ressentir l’énergie de cette scène encore vierge. Les présentations se sont faites simplement, presque timidement : un prénom, un plat préféré – pizza, chocolat, taboulé. Des détails simples, mais qui posaient déjà les bases d’une connexion.

Je les ai regardés faire leurs premiers pas sur scène. La bienveillance de l’équipe du théâtre enveloppait chacun d’eux. Il ne s’agissait pas de performances ou de techniques théâtrales. C’était bien plus que ça : un espace où chaque participant pouvait se poser, s’exprimer, trouver sa place à son rythme.

Ce qui m’a frappée, c’est cette énergie douce mais puissante qui s’est installée peu à peu. Les sourires se sont faits plus francs, les regards plus confiants. Les différences se sont fondues dans une envie commune de vivre l’instant, de se découvrir et de partager.

Et moi, là, au bord de la scène, je savais déjà qu’on venait de poser les premières pierres d’une aventure humaine hors du commun. Le théâtre, ce lieu qui n’exclut personne, venait une fois de plus de prouver qu’il est une maison ouverte à tous.

Ce n’est que le début. Mais je sens déjà que cette histoire, je vais avoir beaucoup de plaisir à vous la raconter. 🎭

Day 1: First Steps on Stage and Unexpected Encounters

Today, I witnessed an adventure come to life: our inclusive theater workshop for youth with cognitive disabilities. For some, it was their very first time stepping into a theater—a space still unfamiliar but soon to become their playground for expression and creativity.

Everything started quietly. No rush. Just time to explore, to feel the energy of a stage yet untouched. Introductions were simple, almost shy: a name, a favorite food—pizza, chocolate, tabbouleh. Small details, yet they already began weaving the threads of connection.

I watched them take their first steps on stage. The theater team’s kindness surrounded each participant, creating a space where there was no pressure to perform or master techniques. It was about something far more meaningful: a place where each person could settle in, express themselves, and find their rhythm.

What struck me most was the gentle yet powerful energy that gradually filled the room. Smiles grew warmer, gazes more confident. Differences melted away in a shared desire to be present, discover, and share.

And there I was, at the edge of the stage, already certain that we had laid the first stones of a remarkable human journey. The theater, this place that excludes no one, once again proved to be a home open to all.

This is just the beginning. But I can already tell this story will be a joy to share with you. 🎭

UN PROJET QUI ME TIENT À CŒUR

"Five Days to Shine" est bien plus qu’un simple atelier. C’est un projet qui me tient particulièrement à cœur, un pas vers une société plus inclusive au Liban. Avec le soutien de l’ambassade des États-Unis et le programme  IVLP, nous avons créé un espace où 15 jeunes adultes atteints de déficiences cognitives peuvent découvrir leur potentiel à travers le théâtre.  

Le théâtre est pour moi un outil magique. Il libère les émotions, stimule la créativité et, surtout, donne une voix à ceux qu’on n’entend pas assez. Ces ateliers sont un moment hors du temps, où chacun peut s’exprimer sans jugement et, souvent, nous surprendre par son talent et sa sensibilité.  

Le défi principal est d’adapter les exercices pour qu’ils soient accessibles à tous, mais aussi engageants et enrichissants. Avec l’aide d’experts, nous avons conçu des activités où improvisation, mouvement et jeux d’équipe prennent le dessus. Voir ces jeunes s’épanouir, gagner en confiance et oser se dépasser sera, j’en suis sure, une expérience bouleversante.  

Mon espoir ? Que ce projet change les mentalités. Que la société libanaise commence à voir ces jeunes pour leur talent, leur joie et leur humanité, plutôt que de les réduire à leurs limites. Nous avons besoin d’un regard neuf, d’une inclusion réelle.  

Et ce n’est qu’un début. J’aimerais voir "Five Days to Shine" grandir, s’installer durablement, et pourquoi pas, s’étendre à d’autres régions. Parce qu’à travers le théâtre, on ne donne pas seulement une scène, on offre une chance de briller.

"Five Days to Shine" is much more than just a workshop. It’s a project that is very close to my heart—a step toward a more inclusive society in Lebanon. With the support of the U.S. Embassy and the IVLP program, we’ve created a space where 15 young adults with cognitive disabilities can discover their potential through theater.  

For me, theater is a magical tool. It frees emotions, stimulates creativity, and, most importantly, gives a voice to those who are not often heard. These workshops provide a timeless moment where everyone can express themselves without judgment and often surprise us with their talent and sensitivity.  

The main challenge is adapting the exercises to be accessible to all while remaining engaging and enriching. With the help of experts, we’ve designed activities that focus on improvisation, movement, and team games. Watching these young people flourish, gain confidence, and push their limits will, I’m sure, be a deeply moving experience.  

My hope? That this project shifts perspectives. That Lebanese society begins to see these young people for their talents, their joy, and their humanity, rather than defining them by their limitations. We need a fresh outlook and true inclusion.  

And this is just the beginning. I hope to see "Five Days to Shine" grow, become a permanent initiative, and perhaps expand to other regions. Because through theater, we don’t just offer a stage; we provide an opportunity to shine.

Cinq Jours pour Briller

Depuis toujours, le théâtre est pour moi un outil puissant de transformation, une fenêtre ouverte sur d’autres perspectives. Aujourd’hui, j’ai l’immense fierté de partager avec vous un projet qui me tient à cœur et que j’ai porté depuis sa conception : Cinq Jours pour Briller : Atelier de Théâtre Inclusif pour Jeunes Adultes. Ce projet unique verra le jour cet hiver au Théâtre Monnot, un espace qui a toujours incarné l’idée d’un dialogue entre les différences.

Fruit d’un financement du Programme américain IVLP, ce projet s’adresse à quinze jeunes Libanais en situation de handicap cognitif. Mais au-delà des chiffres, c’est une initiative humaine et artistique qui vise à leur offrir une tribune où s’exprimer pleinement, où découvrir leur potentiel, et surtout, où être vus et entendus autrement.

Cinq Jours pour Briller repose sur une vision claire : celle de l’inclusion par l’art. À travers des ateliers menés par moi-même et visités par des professionnels du théâtre, ces jeunes participeront à des activités variées comme l’improvisation, le chant, la danse et l’étude de scènes. Chaque moment de ces cinq jours est pensé pour leur permettre d’explorer leurs émotions, de renforcer leur confiance et de développer des compétences essentielles à leur épanouissement social.

Mais ce projet ne s’arrête pas à la scène. En parallèle des ateliers, ce blog documentera leur parcours, offrant un écho à leurs voix et une vitrine à leur talent. Ce journal ne sera pas qu’un témoignage ; il deviendra un outil pour sensibiliser un public plus large à l’importance de l’inclusion.

Des objectifs ancrés dans le réel

1. Redonner confiance à travers le théâtre Cet atelier créera un environnement sécurisé et stimulant, où chaque participant pourra développer sa créativité et ses capacités de communication.
2. Sensibiliser à l’inclusion En mettant ces jeunes au cœur de l’histoire, le projet bouscule les préjugés et ouvre la voie à une société plus inclusive.
3. Renforcer les liens sociaux Grâce à cette expérience immersive, les participants apprendront à construire des relations avec leurs familles et leur entourage, facilitant ainsi leur intégration dans différents milieux.

Un projet qui me ressemble

Cinq Jours pour Briller est bien plus qu’un atelier. C’est une prolongation de mes convictions et de mon engagement envers une culture qui inclut, valorise et célèbre chaque individu. Si ce projet peut inspirer, toucher, et, pourquoi pas, changer des perceptions, alors il aura atteint son but.

En Janvier, lorsque ces jeunes monteront sur scène et illumineront le théâtre de leur énergie et de leur authenticité, j’espère que vous serez nombreux à être présents pour applaudir et soutenir cette belle aventure humaine.

Five Days to Shine

Theater has always been, for me, a powerful tool for transformation—a window into new perspectives. Today, I am immensely proud to share a project that is deeply personal and one I have nurtured from its inception: Five Days to Shine: Inclusive Theater Workshop for Young Adults. This unique initiative will take place this winter at Théâtre Monnot, a space that has always represented the idea of dialogue through diversity.

Funded by the U.S. IVLP program, this project is dedicated to fifteen young Lebanese adults with cognitive disabilities. But beyond the numbers, it is a profoundly human and artistic initiative, designed to offer them a platform to express themselves fully, discover their potential, and most importantly, be seen and heard in a different way.

Five Days to Shine is founded on a clear vision: inclusion through art. Through workshops led by me and visited by professional theater practitioners, these young individuals will participate in a variety of activities, including improvisation, singing, dancing, and scene study. Every moment of these five days is carefully crafted to help them explore their emotions, build self-confidence, and develop essential skills for social growth.

But this project extends beyond the stage. Alongside the workshops, this blog will document their journey, amplifying their voices and showcasing their talents. This journal will not just be a testimony; it will serve as a tool to raise broader awareness about the importance of inclusion.

Goals Grounded in Reality

1. Restoring Confidence Through Theater
   The workshop will create a safe and inspiring environment where each participant can develop their creativity and communication skills.

2. Raising Awareness About Inclusion
   By placing these young individuals at the heart of the story, the project challenges stereotypes and opens the door to a more inclusive society.

3. Strengthening Social Bonds
   Through this immersive experience, participants will learn to build relationships with their families and communities, making it easier for them to integrate into various environments.

A Project That Reflects Who I Am

Five Days to Shine is more than just a workshop. It is an extension of my beliefs and my commitment to a culture that includes, values, and celebrates every individual. If this project can inspire, touch hearts, and perhaps even change perceptions, then it will have achieved its purpose.

This January, when these young individuals take the stage and light up the theater with their energy and authenticity, I hope many of you will be there to applaud and support this beautiful human adventure.
